Opinion: Everton may have made a mistake selling Youssef Chermiti as Rangers striker linked to…

Youssef Chermiti was moved on by Everton manager David Moyes last summer.

After two years on Merseyside, Youssef Chermiti joined Rangers in a deal believed to be worth around £8m.

Chermiti endured a tough start to his Rangers career but he’s certainly grown into his lofty price tag as the season’s gone on.

Chermiti has massively improved and has now netted a commendable nine goals whilst laying on three assists.

With that said, the former Everton striker is already being linked to a top European club ahead of the summer transfer window.

Former Everton striker Youssef Chermiti linked with transfer to PSV

According to Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV are keen on signing Chermiti in the fast-approaching summer transfer window.

The two-time European champions have been scouting the Portugal under-21 centre-forward along with another unnamed club.

PSV are currently 18 points clear at the top of the Eredivisie, so it’d be major step up in level for Chermiti.

Rangers are reportedly demanding a substantial fee to sanction his sale, having rejected a £13m bid from Fenerbahce in the January transfer window.

Clearly, the 21-year-old is highly-admired around Europe and perhaps Everton will be regretting selling him at such a young age.

He could’ve been a much better option than Thierno Bary this term, as the Frenchman has massively struggled to adapt.

A former Everton coach recently explained that Chermiti’s mentality is elite.

“What I really liked about Youssef was his mentality,” Dan Micciche stated.

“He wanted to work and learn. He’s a very polite boy and very humble. He had a lot of potential which was the key to Rangers getting him.

“I think they’re reaping the rewards now for all the work he put in.”
