Steven Gerrard has been tipped to make a return to management after nearly 14 months away from the game.
And one pundit reckons the Rangers hero is still in with a shout of landing his dream job at Liverpool.
Gerrard has been out of work since leaving Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in January 2025. That 18-month stint was preceded by a disappointing spell at Aston Villa, where the midfield icon was sacked after less than a year at Villa Park after he failed to replicate his previous success in the dugout at Ibrox.
In a recent appearance on the The Overlap, the Anfield legend says he has received offers to make a coaching return and that he is open to the right opportunity.
And former Villa, Chelsea and one-time Celtic striker Tony Cascarino can see a way back into management for the Scouser.
With Arne Slot losing the faith of supporters at Anfield after a disastrous title defence, some supporters at Anfield are calling for Gerrard to be given the job for the remainder of the season, with Liverpool now desperately fighting to qualify for the Champions League.
Asked on talkSPORT about the chances of Gerrard getting back into management, Cascarino said: "Absolutely, yeah. First of all, he's got to tick the right boxes and has got to be good enough.
"I would hope one day that Steven Gerrard would become the Liverpool manager full-time, because Kenny [Dalglish] did it and did it brilliantly well. He did two stints and there's always been a connection with the boot room at Liverpool and people involved.
"Steven had a rough ride at Villa, he had a great time at Rangers, that's football management. You can't dismiss a guy because what happened at Villa went wrong. He would have learned a lot in that period and I do believe he's a very smart man.

"I've never met Steven, but I've watched him as a manager and I think he's got a lot about him.
"He knows what he wants and can Liverpool deliver with the revenue that they announced this week. Was it £700million revenue?

"So they're very competitive now as a club, but I'd hope one day he gets that chance. In some ways, it goes back to what I said earlier, earning the right to get that job as well.
"Not just being a legend at a football club, because that's what Dalglish was, but he proved that he was good enough to win things with Liverpool.
"I think Gerrard's a smart man and one day, if it's put in front of him, of course he'd jump in."
