The jaw dropping reality of West Ham’s current league form – West Ham News

IT MAY be FA Cup quarter final day but the spectre of league form and relegation is never far away. Claret and Hugh’s article last night regarding Everton’s intentions not to repeat West Ham’s “David Moyes mistake” has certainly sparked some interest.

Here Hammers fan and regular reader ‘Bob’ sets out some startling statistics that lay to rest apparent misconceptions over the Moyes’ era. Of course we’ll always be grateful to DM for that Conference League win – and the manager will always hold a place in fans’ hearts, but the end of his era was long overdue, according to Bob:

In reality, what we’ve seen this past 2 seasons was very much on the cards under David Moyes in his final 3 seasons. The facts don’t lie, but aside from one decent half league season at the start of the 23/24 campaign, West Ham have been flirting heavily with relegation form since Nov 21. From a high of beating Liverpool at home and going 3rd to collecting just 33 points from the following 27 matches at just 1.2 points per game with wins against Norwich, Palace, Villa & Everton saving us (all struggling) to a struggling 7th place conference qualifying spot.

Build him a statue but let’s be honest, his time had come: David Moyes

The following season 22/23 was even worse with just barely a point per game the season was saved by our conference win. With that cup win, most seem to forget we’d just played 65 league matches at a pitiful 1.1 points per game.

The 23/24 season started with a brief upturn in form gaining 32 pts from the first 19 but then reverted to type of just 20 from the next 19. People freely blame our demise that season on the fact that Moyes knew he wasn’t staying. What that doesn’t explain was the previous woeful league form of the last 2 1/2 seasons.

In reality West Ham had managed to live off of the back of a wonderful 20/21 season that got us in to the europa league. Much of our league form after that consisted of 2 decent half seasons and the rest barely collecting just over a point per game.

Lopetegui – sacked for emulating Moyes’ performances

Whisper it quietly but Lopetegui actually got sacked after 19 games for producing what Moyes was churning out for most part of the previous 3 seasons.

Potter was an even lower point. We are currently in the best form that we have experienced since the start of the 21/22 & 23/24 seasons.

Thats how poor we’ve been now for 5 years. Sorry burst anyone’s Moyes bubble if it still exists, but there’s one thing having a system that is seen as anti-football but when it is producing poor outcomes you can’t complain when you lose your job, no matter how many media pals try and stick up for you.”
