Upcoming Leeds United opponents have received a huge boost.

Leeds United’s next Premier League opponents Manchester United have received a huge boost through a star man’s return after a long absence.

Danish international winger Patrick Dorgu had been in brilliant form the Red Devils but the 21-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in January’s 3-2 victory at Arsenal in which he was forced off with nine minutes left.

Manchester United. though, have revealed that Dorgu has now progressed to working on the pitches on an individual basis at the club’s Carrington training base as the next phase of his rehabilitation.

The Red Devils say there is still no timeline on his return to first-team action but that Dorgu continues to work on his recovery with the current aim of being back with the squad before the end of the season.

There had been reports that Dorgu was looking at around ten weeks out from the time of his injury, suffered on the last Sunday of January. Following today’s FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham, Leeds face Manchester United at Old Trafford on the resumption of their Premier League survival bid next Monday night.

A statement released by Manchester United about Dorgu on Sunday read: “Manchester United winger Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu has taken a new step on his road to recovery.

“The Dane has been out of action since sustaining an injury in our 3-2 away win over Premier League leaders Arsenal back in January, where he rocketed an effort off the underside of the bar to make it 2-1 in the 50th minute.

‘The next phase of his rehabilitation’

“His setback came at the end of a productive month for the 21-year-old, having netted a Goal of the Month winner against Newcastle United on Boxing Day, and also provided one of our two goals against crosstown rivals Manchester City.

“It meant the injury came at a frustrating time for the Denmark international, but shows just how much there is to come from the exciting young talent.

“He has since been working hard at Carrington with our medical staff, and we provided an update on his progress last month, as he works through a strength and conditioning programme to aid his recovery.

“We can now reveal that Dorgu has progressed to working on the pitches on an individual basis at our training base as the next phase of his rehabilitation.

“There is still no timeline on his return to first-team action, but he continues to work on his recovery with the current aim of being back with the squad before the end of the season.

“The Reds are scheduled to head over to Dublin for an intensive training camp next week, in preparation for the run-in to secure UEFA Champions League football for next season.”
