Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson was enjoying some much deserved downtime back in Newcastle on Friday night.

The Forest midfielder dined at an Indian restaurant and they are "dreaming" of his return to Tyneside.

Anderson ate at the popular restaurant Dabbawal in Jesmond on Friday night and posted a picture of the Reds ace with the caption: "Amazing to have the “Geordie Maradona” himself, Elliot Anderson, in Dabbawal Jesmond last night.

"We’re dreaming of a permanent return home… make it happen."

Anderson has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season which has catapulted his future into the spotlight amid links to a big-money move this summer.

Manchester United and Manchester City have both been linked with £100m moves for the England international who has thrived despite Forest's struggles in the Premier League.

But the likelihood of Newcastle making a push to sign Anderson after selling him to Forest to help with PSR back in the summer of 2024, are remote.

While Eddie Howe is a big admirer of Anderson, the fee Forest are expecting almost certainly prices Newcastle out of a move.

Today, it was claimed that Manchester United are ready to offload eight players this summer and hope to raise £100m as they continue to chase Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson.

According to the Sun, Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford are poised to be sold.

And they will be followed by Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia who look set to leave on free transfers, in order to help fund their push for Anderson this summer.

United hope that Barcelona and Napoli will make permanent moves for Rashford and Hojlund respectively banking them £64m in the process.

And it is claimed that United want £19m for Onana while Casemiro's exit on a free will slash £350,000-a-week from their wage bill.

It comes as United continue to be heavily linked with a summer move for Anderson with United on track to make the Champions League under interim boss Michael Carrick.

United look set to revamp their midfield for next season with Anderson reportedly top of their wish list. But they will face stiff competition from rivals Manchester City who are also keen on the England international who has been excellent this season despite Forest's struggles in the top flight.

The Sun says both clubs won't hang around when it comes to making offers for the ex-Newcastle midfielder who is going to be a key figure for England at this summer's World Cup.
