Leeds United have found themselves embroiled in a peculiar penalty shoot-out dispute ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final clash.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke arrived at West Ham only to be informed that, should the tie go to penalties, the shoot-out must not take place in front of the away end.
The decision is understood to have been made on safety grounds, following consultation with police and the local safety advisory group.
However, it is a highly unusual situation and entirely unprecedented, as shooting towards one end can be considered an advantage, with the referee tossing a coin to determine which end and which team goes first.
Leeds have brought 9,000 supporters to West Ham, and there is a significant police presence due to security and safety concerns surrounding the match. West Ham have described it as a "dynamic" decision based on security considerations, which will only be confirmed if the situation arises.
