Report: Everton may get potential second chance to sign Youssef En-Nesyri after surprise claim

Everton tried and failed to Youssef En-Nesyri in January – but a surprise development may give David Moyes a fresh chance this summer.

Everton did not get up to much in the last transfer window, only landing Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…

The club did look at new strikers though, with neither Thierno Barry nor Beto impressing all that much at the time.

That said, Barry did come into form, which may have been a factor in Everton not bringing anyone in.

Youssef En-Nesyri was a player who was strongly linked with Everton at the start of the year.

But he ended up joining Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

That may have been frustrating for Everton and David Moyes, who has long admired the player. But there’s now been an interesting claim about the striker.

Saudi publication Okaz Sports has reported that Al-Ittihad are actually now looking to sign a replacement for En-Nesyri.

Despite the Morocco international scoring four goals in 10 appearances, the SPL outfit are seemingly ready to move on from him already.

The publication say sources have told them that Al-Ittihad are ‘seeking to sign a distinguished striker who will be a technical addition to the football team in the coming years, and has now started searching for an alternative striker to Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri’.

He had been signed as the replacement for Karim Benzema, who joined Al-Hilal.

En-Nesyri had put pen to paper on a deal until 2028. But now all of a sudden, doubt has been cast on him seeing that contract out.

It is not stated explicitly why Al-Ittihad are already looking to offload En-Nesyri.

But potentially this news could be of interest to Everton.

Everton set for second chance to sign En-Nesyri

It’ll be interesting to see what happens now with En-Nesyri in light of this surprising claim.

Obviously Everton were quite keen to sign En-Nesyri earlier this year, and it was even claimed that a proposal was made by the Toffees.

Given Moyes has long been a fan of his, perhaps he might look at trying to sign him.

Both Thierno Barry and Beto still have a lot to prove between now and the end of the season, and it’s not out of the question one or both could leave.

If it transpires that Al-Ittihad just don’t rate En-Nesyri though, then that should prompt Everton to think twice, as the Premier League is obviously a big step up from the Saudi Pro League.

If he has struggled over there, the same may happen if he came to English top-flight.

But it was previously claimed that En-Nesyri had reservations about the UK climate, which may well be a hurdle Everton have to try and get over once again.
