Leeds United's mix of highs and lows reflected in ratings

Leeds United’s mixture of brilliance and haphazardness made for easily the best of this season’s FA Cup quarter-finals, and their resilience saw them through it.

Those contrasts are reflected in the post-match ratings.

Lucas Perri – a real mixed back with some important saves, including two in the shoot-out, but some messy errors too 6

Joe Rodon – his ankle injury is a concern, not least because he was playing well again 6

Jaka Bijol – not at his best, though he had some good moments defensively 6

Pascal Struijk – turned alarmingly easily by Adama Traore early on, unable to stop the equaliser and even made his penalty twitchy, in off the post 5

Jayden Bogle – having two quality wingers to keep an eye on stopped him being the attacking force he can be 6

Ethan Ampadu – took a booking for the team early in the second half and was pushing it with a challenge late on 6

Ao Tanaka – used the ball well with West Ham standing off him at times and scored the opening goal 8

James Justin – his set pieces were not great but he still did a solid job on the left 6

Anton Stach – was in good form before he got injured and ended the game on crutches and in a protective boot. Leeds will be hoping it was not as bad as it looked 7

Noah Okafor – Leeds' most threatening player but he was never likely to last the distance 7

Lukas Nmecha – the ball bounced off him a bit too often 6

Substitutes:

Brenden Aaronson (for Stach 38) – won the penalty but it was an otherwise scratchy display. Scored his penalty, though 6

Sebastiaan Bornauw (for Rodon, 52) – came close to putting Leeds 3-0 up, then had a mix-up with Perri in extra-time which set Leeds hearts beating even faster 6

Ilia Gruev (for Tanaka, 69) – helped Leeds regain some midfield control 7

Willy Gnonto (for Okafor, 69) – turned the game Leeds' way, played the ball to Aaronson to win the penalty and scored from 12 yards in the shoot-out 8

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (for Nmecha, 69) – buried two pressure penalties a matter of weeks after missing at Crystal Palace 7

Joel Piroe (for Bogle, ET HT) – his weak penalty got the shoot-out off to a bad start for Leeds 3

Not used: Longstaff, Byram, Darlow.
