Adam Armstrong insists he still has ‘faith’ that Wolves can climb the table in the final seven matches of the season.

Before the enforced break, Wolves were on an unbeaten run of three Premier League matches and had lost just one in six as performances and results improved.

They are still 13 points off safety, however, and even if survival is unlikely, Armstrong believes Wolves can lift themselves off the bottom of the table with Burnley just three points away.

”This group of lads are all honest, hard-working boys that want to try to do their best,” he said.

“Before I came the results weren't going too well and you could see the togetherness of the boys still, without winning on a Saturday, they're still enjoying coming to training and want to make things right.

“That's something that I've seen from the moment I come in, the positivity of how we don’t want to be bottom of the league.

“We want to get higher up on the table and that's the attitude that we've been taking and I've seen it live.

“It's something that hopefully I can try and add to, a bit of leadership, and helping the boys across the line.

“Obviously it's going to be tough but, we always still have to have faith.”

The striker has one goal and two assists in nine games since making a deadline day move from Southampton, but he is not earmarking a final total in the remaining seven games.

He said: “I've never set targets as a striker.

“For me it's putting more pressure on yourself when you make a target, thinking you’ve got to hit that number.

“I never really try and put that pressure on myself, but to get a few more goals and assists and just keep creating chances and hopefully at the end of the day is to get the three points, which is the main thing.”

Meanwhile, Armstrong is just five Premier League appearances away from his 100th top flight match.

He added: “I actually got reminded about that a couple of weeks ago that I was so close, I didn't really know.

“It's every kid's dream to play in this league. To get 100 is just incredible for me and my family.

“I’ve worked so hard to get here.”
