Anton Stach breaks Leeds United injury silence with gruesome picture - "Stop acting"

The midfielder was forced off with a nasty-looking ankle injury during Leeds United's FA Cup quarter-final win at West Ham.

Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach has shared a nasty-looking update on his ankle injury amid suggestions someone thought he was acting.

Stach was forced off in the 39th minute of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final penalty-shootout win at West Ham, following a heavy Max Kilman challenge. The Leeds midfielder got a shot on goal after a counter-attack but was then cleaned out and rolled his ankle.

“Anton should have been rewarded with a penalty, hit against his ankle, probably a ligament injury,” the Whites boss said. “We have to assess how bad it is. I hope it's not too bad, he was running the game, it was a major set-back to lose him. He's a key player for us and I hope it's not too bad."

Stach has now taken to Instagram to share an update of his own. The Leeds midfielder first shared a post from the official Leeds United account celebrating Sunday’s win, alongside the caption: “What an Easter Sunday”.

But it was the following story that might be of concern for Leeds fans, with a picture of the German’s right ankle looking very swollen. He also wrote ‘stop acting’ in quotation marks, a suggestion the severity of his injury was questioned by someone.

Stach will be assessed further once the swelling reduces this week but is now a major doubt to face Manchester United next Monday. And Leeds’ injury concerns intensified in the second-half at West Ham when Joe Rodon also went down injured.

The centre-back looked to have landed awkwardly after challenging for an aerial ball in the West Ham box and was replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw. Noah Okafor was also substituted deep into the second-half after going down and rubbing his legs, albeit that was expected given his previous lengthy absence.

"I think Noah seems to be alright, just cramps, understandable after being out," said Farke. "Joe Rodon rolled his ankle, we have to assess him. Thank God there's a bit of time before the next game.”
