Wolves' Fer Lopez is on a loan transfer at Celta Vigo
Wolves’ Fer Lopez is on a loan transfer at Celta Vigo
Wolves’ Fer López says he’s happy at Celta Vigo but refuses to discuss his transfer future beyond this season.
The attacking midfielder arrived at Molineux in June 2025 for €25m and didn’t get regular minutes in the Premier League.
To put it in context, he’s played 364 minutes from 12 matches, managing only one assist for Wolves.
This convinced him to leave the English club and return to Celta Vigo on loan in the winter market.
The 21-year-old is enjoying regular minutes in Spain and his La Liga stats this year are as follows:
Appearances: 9
Starts: 6
Total minutes: 556
Key passes per game: 0.6
Shots on target per game: 0.2
Big chances created: 2
During the last international break, the Spain U21 international talked about his struggles at Wolves.
How Wolves transfer helped him
Radio Marca had a chat with the Wolves owned player to discuss several topics, including his short spell in England.
The move to the Premier League side meant Fer López had to leave his family behind in Spain and is now enjoying life back in his country.
“I’ve come back much better than when I left. I worked incredibly hard on my physical conditioning there, and I also matured a lot living on my own,” he said.
“I wanted to be happy again, to enjoy myself, and above all, to play football, which is what makes me happy.”
Wolves man won’t reveal future plans
Fer López talked about the importance of manager Claudio Giráldez to his development at Celta Vigo.
“He’s a football fanatic. He and the coaching staff prepare every match down to the last detail. Many times, we train what he thinks will happen, and then it actually happens,” López explained.
The Wolves man, however, refused to discuss his future beyond this season. When asked about it, he added: “I’m very happy here playing with my teammates and very happy with the coaching staff.”
Radio Marca insist his comment ‘inspires optimism’ for the Spanish club to extend his stay after the loan spell.
Our take: Celta Vigo likely to be successful
Last week, Sport Witness relayed news that Celta Vigo plan to sign him again on loan, potentially with an obligation to buy.
Wolves are bottom of the table and are likely to be relegated and Fer López is unlikely to play in the Championship next season.
The La Liga side are likely to be successful, more so if the player were to push for a move in the summer.
