Opinion: Everton's interest in Champions League teenager is clearly led by the Friedkin Group

Everton have been drawing up a shortlist of transfer targets ahead of the summer window.

Rico Lewis is one of the latest names to be linked to Everton, and it’s claimed that Manchester City would sanction his sale for in excess of £30m.

Arsenal’s Ben White is also on the Toffees’ radar as David Moyes looks to sign a new right-back.

There is a fresh name emerging as a potential target and it seems to be very much led by the Friedkin Group rather than Moyes.

Everton’s interest in Christian Kofane is clearly led by the Friedkin Group

The Friedkin Group want to drive down the average age of Everton’s squad, and they’re keen to recruit some of the best young talent across the continent.

That was evidenced by the signings of Tyler Dibling, Tyrique George and Adam Aznou, to name only a few.

Now, it’s being claimed that Everton are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s teenage centre-forward Christian Kofane.

Kofane’s agent has confirmed the Toffees’ interest in the 19-year-old, who has netted 7 goals whilst laying on eight assists this term.

Given how much Moyes values experience, this doesn’t seem like a player he would be targeting, which points towards the idea that the American investors are the ones keen.

Moyes hasn’t given many of his young players a chance this season and has heavily relied on the older players in the business end of the season.

It’s more likely that Everton’s interest in Raul Jimenez or Alexander Sorloth stems from the Scotsman.

Both are seasoned strikers above the age of 30.
