Kieran Trippier drops summer hint after announcing Newcastle United exit

Kieran Trippier will leave Newcastle United at the end of his contract this summer.

Kieran Trippier has hinted he already has ‘a few things’ lined up for when he officially leaves Newcastle United at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old confirmed that he would be leaving Newcastle after four-and-a-half years when his contract expires on June 30.

It will mark the end of a memorable spell on Tyneside, which has been the club’s most successful in the modern era. Before Trippier joined Newcastle, the club had not won a domestic trophy since 1955 and had only ever played twice in the Champions League.

Trippier will leave Newcastle having twice qualified for the Champions League with the club while also helping end a 70-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup last season.

The right-back will leave Newcastle with the best wishes of all connected with the club, who will be curious to find out what is next for the player.

But Trippier has already hinted that he has ‘a few things’ lined up this summer as he prepares to become a free agent for the first time in his career.

“That will get sorted when it gets sorted, I just want to focus on Palace and the remaining games ahead to give my all as I always have for the football club. Whatever happens in the future will happen and I'm excited for that."

Newcastle currently sit 12th in the Premier League table but are still looking to salvage the season with seven games to go by securing European qualification.

Despite announcing his departure, Trippier has reiterated his commitment to the club for the remainder of the season.

“You’ll get 100% from me,” he added. “I'm really attached to Newcastle. It's going to be really sad after the Fulham game but of course I'm going to follow the club, follow the manager and I can come back whenever I can to watch the games and support the lads.

“I just hope this club can push even further and win more silverware.”
