Odysseas Vlachodimos claims Newcastle United did not keep to their word after his move to the club from Nottingham Forest back in 2024. The Greek goalkeeper has made just one appearance for the Magpies since then, a Carabao Cup appearance against AFC Wimbledon in October of the same year.
Vlachodimos came on for the injured Martin Dubravka, with Nick Pope also out injured at the time. However, the England international would return to full fitness not long after, meaning the Greek goalkeeper would struggle for game time.
He joined La Liga side Sevilla last summer on a season-long loan, and has been a regular for the Spanish club this year.
Vlachodimos claims he was told of a plan when he arrived at Newcastle United, but that plan changed a week before the first game of the season.
According to Athletico, via News Pao, Vlachodimos said: "There was a plan for me. A week before the first match, the plan changed and the things they had told me didn’t happen.
"Despite this, I felt very good and so did my family at Newcastle. The thought came that you have to give something extra every day. That’s what I tried to do.
"From morning to noon, I was in the gym. Every day I wanted to do something different. I certainly wasn’t happy because I wasn’t playing.
"They told me something else. I was angry, but I worked. Ultimately, I do it for myself, I don’t do it for them. Every footballer wants to play.

"I had the goal of going to the World Cup with the national team and that was what kept me going."
Vlachodimos joined the Magpies at the same time Elliot Anderson joined Nottingham Forest, with Newcastle scrambling for a way to pass PSR.

Yankuba Minteh also left the club in the same transfer window, with Eddie Howe critical of the rules that forced the club to sell two promising talents.
Vlachodimos is not part of Newcastle's plans for the future, with the 31-year-old expected to leave the club in the future.
