RL Commercial have confirmed that ticket sales for Super League’s Magic Weekend have already set an all-time record for the event. The event will take place at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium in July, and close to 70,000 tickets have been sold for the event, surpassing the previous record attendance of 68,276 set at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park back in 2016.

The annual festival of Rugby League returns on the opening weekend of July and will see RL Commercial return to Hill Dickinson Stadium following strong approval from supporters after hosting this year’s sell-out Ashes Test. Having surpassed Magic WKNDs held in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Leeds, RL Commercial Managing Director Rhodri Jones said: “Magic WKND has grown into one of rugby league’s great showcase events over the last 20 years – and these rapid ticket sales show it.

“England fans really loved visiting the superb venue during the Ashes last autumn when the stadium was sold out, and it looks like many are coming back for more.

“We set a target of making this the biggest and best Magic WKND yet and it’s brilliant to see supporters backing the event to help us achieve this.

“We’ve had an excellent start to the Super League season with some enthralling action, thrilling encounters and there’s more set to come in Rivals Round over the next three days.

“Crowds have never been as big at this stage of the campaign in the competition’s 30-year history and Magic offers the chance for fans to see all 12 of our English-based clubs in action over 48 hours.”

The 2025 Betfred Super League champions Hull KR will face Hull FC on the opening day of the event on Saturday, July 4, with Huddersfield Giants vs York Knights and Leigh Leopards taking on Warrington Wolves being the other two games taking place that day.

Bradford Bulls will then play Leeds Rhinos at Magic Weekend for the first time since 2012 a day later, with Wakefield Trinity vs Castleford Tigers taking place before that, and the weekend ends with the traditional blockbuster between Wigan Warriors and St Helens.

Speaking when it was confirmed that Hill Dickinson Stadium would be the venue for the 19th Super League Magic Weekend, Angus Kinnear, Everton chief executive officer, said: “We are incredibly proud to be welcoming Magic Weekend to Hill Dickinson Stadium so soon after the outstanding success of the Ashes Test earlier this month.

“Hosting a sell-out crowd for the first major non-football event in our new home was a landmark moment for the club and a powerful demonstration of what this stadium and our city can deliver.

“With world-class facilities for players, officials and fans, superb sightlines, and an expansive Budweiser Plaza that lends itself perfectly to large-scale fan experiences, our waterfront home is the ideal location for Magic Weekend.

"We look forward to welcoming supporters from across the Rugby League community next July and showcasing, once again, the energy, ambition and hospitality that make Hill Dickinson Stadium and our city region such a special destination for major events.”
