We have had an update on Ibrahima Konate‘s contract situation, with a new report from France revealing that Spanish clubs have approached the defender over a summer transfer.
Ibrahima Konate: “Only a few details to iron out”
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Konate is running out of time to renew his deal at Liverpool.
A new report from France, though, suggests the two parties are not far from an agreement and want it done before the World Cup.
*L’Equipe*‘s Hugo Delom and Loic Tanzi wrote that “major clubs – particularly Spanish ones – have presented their proposals” to Konate.

However, “there have been numerous meetings and discussions” between Liverpool and the player. The journalists claimed the parties “have never been closer to an agreement, with only a few details remaining to be ironed out.”
A year ago, the Times reported that Konate wants to increase his wages from £80,000 per week to £200,000 per week at Liverpool.
If the Frenchman was hoping to hold for a over double his current salary, then his performances this season won’t have done his chances any favours.

Dominik Szoboszlai may have been Liverpool’s best player this season, but that doesn’t mean that he should be the club’s future captain.
Sam Millne explains that the 25-year-old’s poor attitude towards the supporters at full time on Saturday wasn’t the first time he has lacked understanding of Liverpool’s culture.
“This wasn’t the first time Szoboszlai has misjudged the mood around the club.
“Following Liverpool’s dismal Premier League defeat at Wolves in early March, the midfielder thought it a good move to post online a pair of boots gifted to him by Vinicius Jr, tagging the Real Madrid man with a fire emoji caption.
“It is only a small thing, but public perception is a big part of the modern game and this was a tone-deaf decision.”

Liverpool FC: On this day
It was on April 6, 1968, that Liverpool beat Man United 2-1 at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Ron Yeats and Roger Hunt, with all three goals that day being netted in the first 17 minutes.
The Reds may have finished a point behind that season’s European Champions, Man United, but Liverpool at least had their day of fun as Bill Shankly beat Matt Busby
Wearing their white away shirt, Liverpool conceded after just three minutes, George Best capitalising on Emlyn Hughes’ slip to score his seventh and final goal against the Reds.
It didn’t take the visitors long to respond, though, as Yeats scrambled the ball over the line after his own header bounced off the post.
By the 18th minute, Liverpool had turned the game around, with Hunt and Tony Hateley playing a neat one-two for the former to finish calmly.
