Derby County striker Patrick Agyemang may have seen his hopes of playing in a home World Cup and earning a potential move to Leeds United in the Premier League ended in cruel fashion.
The Derby striker was stretchered off with a non-contact injury in the Easter Monday Championship match against Stoke City. Having landed awkwardly in the first half, Agyemang went down immediately and needed to be stretchered off, hiding his face at first as he left the pitch, with the 25-year-old then looking visibly upset as fears immediately emerged that his season is over.
As well as potentially missing out on the World Cup, the forward could see a summer switch derailed also if he is out for a sustained period.
Back in January there were reports claiming that Leeds United and Crystal Palace had both tabled offers for the American international, with suggestions of a £20million valuation. While that was never the case, Agyemang continued to be linked with the Whites and a potential swoop for the player this summer.
The former Charlotte FC frontman arrived at Pride Park from the MLS outfit last summer in a £5.9m deal and has been a big hit at the club this season, with the Rams holding no intention to sell and only a significant offer likely to even tempt them into a deal.

Agyemang has been pushing hard to secure a place in Mauricio Pochettino's World Cup squad and scored for his country recently in a friendly against Belgium which ended in a 5-2 defeat.
