Liverpool supporters group reacts to ticket price increase after the club announced an increase over the next three seasons.
Arne Slot’s side are enduring a difficult period both on and off the pitch following a heavy defeat and a controversial ticket price increase.
The club suffered their 15th loss of the season with a 4-0 defeat by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The Reds now turn their attention to the Champions League, where they are set to face Paris St-Germain on Wednesday. The French side, managed by Luis Enrique, sit four points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with a game in hand, progressed to the quarter-finals after hammering Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate.
Liverpool were knocked out of the competition by PSG last season.
Liverpool FC increase ticket prices
Off the field, Liverpool have confirmed plans to increase season ticket prices over the next three years.
The club said the rises will be linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) annual inflation rate from January of each year. Adult matchday ticket prices are expected to increase by between £1.25 and £1.75, while season tickets will rise by between £21.50 and £27 next season.
The announcement comes after Liverpool reported a record turnover of £703m for the 2024-25 financial year. The club also moved from a £57m loss in 2023-24 to a post-tax profit of about £8m.
The club previously increased ticket prices by 3% in 2024.
Liverpool supporters group react to ticket price increase
Liverpool Supporters Group Spirit of Shankly have reacted to the news of the ticket prices. The group have organised a protest against the ticket prices before home and away fixtures, starting with Liverpool’s home game to Fulham.
In a statement released today, the group encouraged fans not to spend money in the ground; they encouraged fans to spend money with local businesses instead.
A portion of the statement read:
“Protests inside and outside Anfield have been discussed. It is agreed they need to happen.
This will not be limited to one game. Action will take place across home and away fixtures, starting with Fulham at Anfield and escalating from there.
Details to follow. But the key point is simple: this will grow and escalate.
If you care about this issue, you need to be part of it. Turn up. Join in. Back it. Encourage others to take part.
This only works if enough of us make it work.”
