Man Utd’s next opponents Leeds suffer injury blow with manager describing loss as ‘major set-back’

Manchester United’s next opponents Leeds are fearing the worst over an injury to a key player.

Next up for Manchester United is a home fixture against Leeds on April 13, at the end of a 24-day break without games.

Leeds have already returned to action, winning their FA Cup quarter-final against relegation rivals West Ham on April 5.

But the victory may have come at a cost, with midfielder Anton Stach suffering an injury.

What position would Man Utd be in the league if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed instead of Michael Carrick?

How do you think it would have gone with Ole?

Anton Stach injury

Leeds midfielder Anton Stach was forced off after 38 minutes of the quarter-final after a challenge from Max Kilman.

Speaking after the game, manager Daniel Farke told the Yorkshire Post: “Anton should have been rewarded with a penalty, hit against his ankle, probably a ligament injury.

“We have to assess how bad it is. I hope it’s not too bad, he was running the game, it was a major set-back to lose him. He’s a key player for us and I hope it’s not too bad.”

Stach posted an image of his swollen ankle on social media 24 hours after the game, and he is certainly in a race to get fit for the Manchester United game.

This season Stach has created more chances than any other Leeds player, and has four goals and three assists. He has played in 26 of their 31 Premier League games so far.

Manchester United are already heavy favourites to win the fixture, and Leeds missing Stach would make an away victory even more unlikely.
