UEFA has confirmed the officiating team for the upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, with preparations now entering the final stage ahead of Wednesday’s clash in Paris.

The UEFA Champions League quarter-finals bring a sharp tactical contrast as Paris Saint-Germain host Liverpool in Paris.

From a Liverpool standpoint, this is a test of identity as much as quality.

Arne Slot’s side arrive under pressure after an inconsistent domestic run, but their European form has shown resilience.

Liverpool have scored 24 goals in the competition and conceded just nine, keeping five clean sheets.

That defensive stability stands in contrast to PSG, who have conceded 17 goals and kept only two clean sheets, often relying on their attacking power to outscore opponents.

The numbers highlight a deeper contrast in style. PSG dominate possession with 64.28% on average and boast a passing accuracy of 91.46%, completing 6,870 passes so far.

Liverpool operate differently, with 53% possession and 87.5% accuracy, but they compensate with intensity, covering over 1,133 km in total compared to PSG’s 455.8 km.

There are key danger zones within the game.

PSG have scored 25% of their goals in the opening 15 minutes, which could punish Liverpool’s tendency for slow starts and at the other end, 35% of PSG’s conceded goals come late, which may open the door for a late push, especially with Alexander Isak available as an option from the bench.

Meanwhile, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is expected to start, remains a major threat, having scored in three straight knockout matches.

Historically, both sides are evenly matched with three wins each in six meetings, although PSG won last season’s tie on penalties.

With attention turning fully to the first leg on April 8, UEFA has confirmed the officials for the clash at the Parc des Princes.

Jose Maria Sanchez will referee the match, assisted by Raul Cabanero and Inigo Prieto.

Juan Martinez Munuera has been named as the fourth official, while VAR duties will be handled by Carlos del Cerro Grande and Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez.

This will be only the second time Sanchez has officiated PSG, with the previous match ending in a 3–2 defeat to Aston Villa.

His appointment comes ahead of a tie that already carries weight due to form, history, and contrasting styles.

For Liverpool, the equation is clear.

They must manage PSG’s early control, survive the opening phases, and take their chances when the game stretches.
