Liverpool have won just 50% of their games since last facing PSG

Since Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain last season, they have won only 50 percent of their matches in all competitions.

Liverpool vs. PSG: The Stats Gap

• 50% Win Rate: Liverpool have won only 29 of their 58 games since the last PSG encounter.

• Contrast in Form: European champions PSG have maintained a 71.6% win rate over the same period.

• Goals Conceded: The Reds have shipped 79 goals in the 12 months following their shootout defeat at Anfield.

More than a year after PSG knocked Arne Slot‘s side out at the last-16 stage, the two teams go head-to-head again, this time for a place in the semi-final.

In the months that followed, both sides went on to lift their domestic title, but it was PSG who were also crowned European champions before a summer competing for the Club World Cup.

But while the French outfit have had a win percentage of 71.6 percent since their trip to Anfield last March, Slot’s side have slumped to 50 percent.

Since the shootout at Anfield, Liverpool have played 58 games across all competitions, winning 29 and losing 20 for a win percentage of just 50 percent.

The Reds have scored 106 in that time and conceded 79, with Slot’s future at the helm growing increasingly uncertain with every dithering performance and result.

In direct comparison, PSG have won 48 of their 67 games over the last year, and are currently leading Ligue 1 by four points with a game in hand, while Liverpool are languishing fifth in the Premier League.

It has been a year of stagnation and regression for Liverpool after their major summer overhaul, and optimism over avenging their defeat to the French side is in short supply.

Slot previously insisted that “My football is Paris Saint-Germain vs. Liverpool, Liverpool vs. Paris Saint-Germain,” with the open nature of the contest making it a “joy to watch.”

The external view was somewhat different; while Slot saw the positives, others saw a tactical naivety that has defined the 12 months that have followed.

Liverpool’s head coach will, however, hope the lack of a low block will allow his players to express themselves as they bid to qualify for the semi-final.

The trip to Galatasaray offered warning signs about a basketball-style affair, but the Reds need to discover a ruthlessness at both ends of the pitch that has been lacking throughout the campaign if they are to have any hope.
