West Ham injury fears addressed in nine-player update before must-win Wolves clash

Fears West Ham have suffered an injury crisis involving a host of key players at the worst possible time have been addressed ahead of the must-win clash with Wolves.

The Hammers welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the London Stadium for what is undeniably the biggest game of the season so far.

With three or four wins likely required in the final seven games, West Ham simply must beat Wolves if they want to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

So the last thing Nuno Espirito Santo needs right now is an injury crisis.

But there are fears that is exactly what has happened to West Ham ahead of the visit of Rob Edwards’ much-improved basement boys, who have nothing to lose.

Now West Ham injury crisis fears have been addressed in an nine-player update for the must-win Wolves game.

Victory for the Irons over Wolves would propel Nuno’s side out of the relegation zone and above Spurs, who have to go to Sunderland on the Sunday.

It would also put them level on points with Nottingham Forest, who have a tough game against Villa and one point behind Leeds, who are away at Man United.

West Ham showed plenty of spirit yet again in the comeback against Leeds in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

But with a raft of key players missing, there was a lack of quality and the Hammers fell short in completing the comeback as they suffered penalty shootout heartbreak.

Nuno and his team simply cannot afford to fall short when the Premier League action resumes against Wolves on Friday.

However, there are grave concerns in east London after star man Crysencio Summerville, defenders Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos, number one goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, striker Callum Wilson and Hammer of the Year Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all out of the squad for the cup exit.

To make matters worse, key star Axel Disasi, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and former Wolves ace Adama Traore – who had his best game for West Ham against Leeds – all went off hobbling in the game.

Hammers News can bring some good news on the injury front, though, after an update on West Ham’s missing nine.

What did you make of Adama Traore’s performance?

Has he won you over?

West Ham United's Spanish midfielder #17 Adama Traore (C) runs through the Leeds midfield during the English FA Cup quarter final football match between West Ham United and Leeds United at the London Stadium in east London on April 5, 2026.

Wan-Bissaka

West Ham were furious Wan-Bissaka missed the Leeds game after he was not permitted to leave Congo by the African country’s president as he hosted a celebration for their World Cup qualification.

Wan-Bissaka was permitted to head back to London on Monday, meaning he will be back in training and available for Wolves.

Summerville

West Ham’s star player has missed the last three games with a calf injury.

Hammers News exclusively revealed the details of Summerville’s injury and West Ham return date the day after it happened.

While other outlets claimed he would be back for Villa, Hammers News stated on several occasions that Summerville would be out until after the international break and would not be risked in the cup so he could be ready for Wolves.

West Ham have played their cards close to their chest on Summerville with Nuno insisting he is being assessed day-by-day and ‘needs more time’.

But Hammers News understands the Dutchman will be ready to face Wolves on Friday.

Mavropanos

The much-improved Mavropanos was pictured watching the Leeds game from the stands.

The big Greek was not a player fans would have missed a few months ago but that is not the case now after his marked turnaround under Nuno and – by his own admission – since the arrival of coach Paco Jemez.

The good news is Mavropanos sat out the match due to head injury protocol after suffering a nasty clash on international duty with Greece. Nuno has confirmed he will be back for Wolves.

Todibo

The French defender, who has also been much improved under Nuno, hobbled out of the warm-up for the game at Villa and was expected back for Leeds but watched on from the stands too.

The game came slightly too soon for Todibo but Hammers News understands he will also be available for Wolves.

Wilson

The striker was sorely missed against Leeds as goal-shy £47m duo Taty Castellanos and Pablo flopped yet again.

Wilson is West Ham’s best finisher and will be needed for the run-in if the Hammers are to stay up.

The forward also watched the game from the seats behind the dugout as he was not risked due to what’s been described as a ‘slight niggle’.

Wilson continues to be assessed but it is hoped he too will be fit for Wolves.

Hermansen

There was mystery over the absence of West Ham’s number one Hermansen from the squad for Leeds.

While Alphonse Areola provides quality and experienced back-up, the Frenchman went hobbling off, leaving youngster Fin Herrick to step into the team and almost become a penalty shootout hero.

Hermansen may have been rested by Nuno after his World Cup qualification heartbreak. He is expected to be back for Friday as the starting goalkeeper.

Disasi, Traore and Areola

The big new concerns from the Leeds game were than Disasi had suffered a hamstring injury and both Areola and Traore appeared to be suffering calf issues after treatment on the pitch.

All three were substituted off, sparking grave concerns around the club.

Hammers News understands all three were removed as precautions, though, and should be fit for Wolves.

When asked whether the club’s key players would all be available for Friday given how important the game is, a top spokesman for West Ham said: “Agreed. Many held back for Wolves, others just precaution.”
