Everton have been trying to sign a new right-back since David Moyes returned to the club in January 2025.
Moyes’ current first-choice right-back, Jake O’Brien, just doesn’t offer the team enough going forward, while Seamus Coleman is coming towards the end of his career and could retire in the summer.
Everton did explore a deal to sign Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Genoa in the last two transfer windows, however, the Serie A club wanted to retain his signature until the summer.

The Toffees have also held talks with Genk over a potential transfer for Zakaria El Ouahdi, so that remains an option.
Now, there has been a suggestion that a 54-cap England international could join, and Jordan Pickford may have a role to play in any forthcoming transfer.

Jordan Pickford could help Everton sign Kieran Trippier
Newcastle United have announced that Kieran Trippier will be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.
Trippier has been a long-term Everton target, and a move to Merseyside has been mooted for the now 35-year-old.

Would this be a good signing on a one-year deal? 🤔
Kieran Trippier question.
Pickford could play a key role in convincing the veteran right-back to make the switch, as the pair are very close friends.
In fact, Trippier previously stated that Pickford was his best friend, so the Everton goalkeeper could put in a good word about the club and manager.
Despite approaching his 36th birthday, the Newcastle United captain has still played 34 games this season, and he started virtually every game in their Champions League campaign.
If Everton do qualify for Europe, Moyes will certainly be keen to add that sort of experience to his squad, as it’s currently lacking seasoned European players.
