Leeds United recorded a huge win in the FA Cup this weekend, with the Whites progressing to the semi-final of the competition. They will be facing Chelsea at Wembley with a place in the final on the line.
The club have come very far in this cup run, which has been a pleasant surprise for the fans. Daniel Farke usually rotates his team which leads to them being knocked out of cup competitions. This season’s FA Cup has seen some Leeds stars shine, as their performances caught the eye in previous rounds.

On Sunday, one of the standouts was Lucas Perr. The Brazilian keeper was benched by Farke earlier this year, and now it seems he is on a mission to prove himself. Two crucial saves in the penalty shootout saw his side win the tie.

Ao Tanaka also had a great game and topped it off with a goal. The Japanese international has been out of favour recently, but his performance against West Ham could change things. On the other side of the scale, there were a few players that had a game to forget at the London Stadium.
One of them was Joel Piroe; the striker came on in extra time and had zero effect on the game. He made just three passes, failed to get a shot on goal and lost possession three times. His worst contribution was missing his penalty in the shootout, which could have cost the team. Graham Smyth rated Piroe’s performance in the game 5/10, saying the striker could not get himself into the game, and calling his penalty effort ”poor”.

Joel Piroe might be done at Elland Road
Missing a penalty is not the reason Piroe could leave the club this summer, but there is serious concern over his performances. The striker even missed a huge chance for Suriname in their World Cup playoff tie during the international break. Joel Piroe is not the main man for Leeds United anymore, and it looks like he has completely lost his confidence. So it is likely that he seeks a move away from Elland Road this summer to get some first team football next season. It is very baffling to see how Piroe went from top scorer to scoring just one goal in the next campaign.
