Leeds United’s FA Cup run to the semi-finals at Wembley has forced the rearrangement of their Matchweek 34 fixture and given fans a mammoth midweek trip.
The Whites were due to face Bournemouth on Saturday April 25 with a 3pm kick-off, but their FA Cup quarter-final win over West Ham United means they will be busy at Wembley that weekend, taking on Chelsea. The FA Cup semi-final date is yet to be announced but it will take place either on Saturday or Sunday of that weekend.
As a result, the trip to the Cherries will now take place on Wednesday April 22, with an 8pm kick-off. The game will also now be shown live on Sky Sports.
The Premier League has also confirmed that fixtures involving the other top flight semi-finalists, Chelsea and Man City, will be played in midweek. What that means for Leeds is that regardless of when their semi-final takes place, opponents Chelsea will be better rested. Liam Rosenior’s Blues travel to Brighton 24 hours prior to Leeds’ trip to Bournemouth. Man City, who have been drawn to face Championship side Southampton in the other semi-final, are away at Burnley on Wednesday 22 April.
Leeds say that further details on the Bournemouth fixture, including ticketing information, will be announced in due course.
