Brighton loanee Kamari Doyle picks up another injury ahead of Doncaster Rovers

A fan-favourite and pivotal player in Reading FC's season so far, Kamari Doyle has come leaps and bounds since joining in the summer on loan from the Seagulls.

The 20-year-old had picked up a knock only two games prior against Wigan as he was taken off at half-time. The attacking midfielder was instrumental for Reading's first two goals in the 3-0 Royals' win against the Latics, firstly with a pinpoint cross to Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and then followed it up with playing a key part in forcing an own goal by Will Aimson.

Leam Richardson said at the Huddersfield Town pre-match press conference : "It wasn't a precaution, he came off with an injury and it was like a flare-up of an old injury as well.

"So yes, big disappointment at the minute that we are. We're having to send Kamari obviously to a specialist to have a look at that as well and obviously with Brighton involved as well.

"So, fingers crossed, we'll see how it is in the next few days."

To everyone's surprise Doyle was included in the starting XI for Reading in the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town only two days after Richardson's update - Though his return to the pitch felt like a rush move to try and secure three points ahead of a double-header over Easter.

Reading FC would come to face the consequences of their decision to give Kamari Doyle 83 minutes on Good Friday, as he would only manage less than 30 on Easter Monday against promotion securing Lincoln City.

When asked about the seriousness of the injury, Richardson didn't answer the question directly and said: "He's one of our shining lights at the minute, isn't he? I think he's coming on strength of strength.

"Obviously, we had to pull Derrick Williams out just before the kick-off as well, and Kamari Doyle comes off the pitch after 20 minutes. So, a little bit of a fix-and-mend, so to speak, there."

Leam Richardson would confirm after the interview that he had picked up a hamstring injury, with no detail as to the seriousness nor if it would see him out for the Doncaster Rovers clash on Saturday.
