That supports part of the narrative around this game. But it also shows something else. Leeds have kept three clean sheets in their last five league matches. They are not open like they were earlier in the season.
That, combined with what they showed against West Ham, makes them far less straightforward to beat than the table alone suggests.
Ferdinand predicts Man United to win, but it falls short
Ferdinand, speaking on his YouTube channel, said: “I want to go for a Man United win. I think it’ll be a tough game. Leeds have had a tough game in the FA Cup against my old team West Ham.”
He added that the emotional impact of that penalty-shootout win “might have done Man United a favour”. It is a simple argument. Leeds played 120 minutes. They rode a huge emotional swing.
That should benefit Man United. But that reading strips out what actually happened in that match. Leeds did not fade after conceding. They responded. They held their nerve and delivered when it mattered.
That is not a weakness going into Old Trafford. It is a strength.
