Liverpool have announced their 21-man travelling squad for the Champions League quarter-final at Paris Saint-Germain, with Alexander Isak making the trip.
Isak is in contention for the first time since December as the Reds look to pull off an unlikely victory over the European champions this week.
Having produced one of their worst performances of Arne Slot‘s reign on Saturday to exit the FA Cup at the hands of Man City, few are predicting a Liverpool victory in Paris.
But a strong squad makes the trip to France nonetheless, albeit without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson among a number of injuries.
Liverpool Squad Travelling to Paris Saint-Germain
Goalkeepers: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Misciur
Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Kerkez, Frimpong, Robertson
Midfielders: Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones, Nyoni
Forwards: Salah, Wirtz, Ekitike, Isak, Gakpo, Chiesa, Ngumoha
There should be at least one change in midfield with Alexis Mac Allister primed to come in for Curtis Jones, while Cody Gakpo could also be considered to join the attack.
Liverpool actually won their last clash at PSG with Harvey Elliott scoring late in a 1-0 victory at the Parc des Princes, but much has changed since that evening.
There is now mounting pressure on Slot’s position with fans leaving the Etihad half an hour early on Saturday and many chanting Xabi Alonso’s name.
Sources insists owners Fenway Sports Group are still backing their current head coach however, but it has been stressed that poor results in the coming games could test their resolve.
Exiting the Champions League could prove decisive, with Liverpool needing to qualify for next season’s tournament and not yet guaranteed a top five finish in the Premier League.
