Manchester City believe they have won the race to sign Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Anderson has emerged as one of the Premier League's most sought-after stars in the past 18 months, while shining at Forest. He has become a target for a host of clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.
But City chiefs made the former Newcastle United star one of their main summer targets. And the Etihad top brass are confident of landing Anderson in a £65million deal
It's understood City are right at the front of the queue to land the 23-year-old, who is expected to leave the City Ground this summer, regardless of whether Forest avoid relegation or not.
And Anderson has let it be known that moving to City is his preferred choice.
City hope to get a deal over the line at the start of summer, as soon as the Premier League campaign is finished and before Anderson heads to the World Cup with England.
Getting a deal done early would avoid the risk of Anderson's price tag ballooning should he have a successful tournament, with him expected to start alongside Declan Rice at the heart of the Three Lions engine room.
Anderson has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League this season and has made huge progress since he joined Forest from Newcastle in 2024.
He only received his first England call-up in August for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia and had to wait until the following month to make his debut in a 2-0 win over Andorra.
But he made a massive impression on Thomas Tuchel and is almost guaranteed to be named in the German's final World Cup squad, injury permitting.
