Roberto De Zerbi could miss out on a Tottenham approach for Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte if Spurs are relegated from the Premier League, according to reports.
Tottenham are one of the many clubs across Europe that are monitoring the situation around Manuel Ugarte ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
Roberto De Zerbi, who was linked with Manchester United in the past, made his return to England at the end of March to take up the head coach role at Spurs.
The former Brighton and Marseille manager faces the mammoth task of trying to steer Tottenham away from a shock Premier League relegation this season.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have ‘previously tracked’ the situation around Manuel Ugarte amid the 24-year-old defensive midfielder’s Old Trafford struggles.
Spurs have remained ‘informed on developments’ around out-of-favour Manchester United star Manuel Ugarte, who has been linked with other Premier League clubs.

Newcastle are interested in Ugarte this summer, while Aston Villa also have their eyes on the Uruguay international amid Tottenham’s pursuit of the midfielder.
Juventus have also been linked with Ugarte, who is under contract with Man Utd until 2029 after he inked his initial deal with the Premier League club in 2024.
TEAMtalk added that Tottenham are preparing a major rebuild of their squad this summer after bringing Roberto De Zerbi to the London club last month.
But it has been added that Spurs’ hopes of landing someone like Ugarte would be entirely dependent on if De Zerbi can prevent Tottenham from being relegated.

Ugarte has been reduced to 23 matches across all competitions for Man Utd in the 2025-26 campaign after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting CP midfielder has only had six cameo appearances in Michael Carrick’s 10-match Premier League reign since January so far.
Alongside Serie A side Juventus and Premier League clubs Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle, Galatasaray have a keen interest in midfielder Ugarte as well.
TEAMtalk reports that a summer transfer to Turkey is widely tipped as the ‘most likely outcome’ for struggling United star Ugarte.
