Jack Harrison admits his Leeds United future is in doubt after a “difficult” return to Elland Road during the first half of the season.
Harrison was re-integrated back into the squad by Daniel Farke over the summer following a two-year loan spell at Everton, but started only one Premier League game and played just one minute in the 11 Leeds matches prior to his loan to Fiorentina.
Amid the switch to a back-three formation, Farke saw Harrison more as a wing-back and the 29-year-old largely struggled in an unnatural role. The manager hailed Harrison’s training attitude and application throughout his return to Leeds, having had to battle to win around supporters who disliked his decision to move to Everton.
Ultimately, Fiorentina - in a relegation battle in Italy’s Serie A - came with a proposition in January and Harrison has since started six of his 14 appearances, grabbing two assists from the right wing.
Speaking about his time at Leeds for the first time since his move, Harrison told FourFourTwo: “It was a difficult start to the season. It was something that I hadn't faced before in my career for an extended period of time, just not playing.

“It’s very positive coming here. I’m getting more minutes and playing in the Conference League has been an incredible experience, travelling and playing, a small taste of what it would be like in the Champions League.”
Harrison does not see his Leeds contract expire until 2028 but he could be one player United offload this summer, should Fiorentina not trigger the purchase option in his loan deal. The attacker admits there is haze over his future.
“Coming out here has opened my mind to a lot more possibilities,” he added. “Just being open and adaptable to go anywhere and to find that happiness. That's a key thing for me.
“If I want to be playing at my best - which contributes a lot towards happiness as well - I have to be somewhere where it's the best thing for my happiness as well. Finding that place would be incredible. Wherever that is, I'm not quite sure, but I'm open to possibilities.”
Harrison initially managed to curry favour with a number of sceptical Leeds supporters with bustling displays from the substitutes’ bench but a lack of end product ultimately stirred frustration prior to his loan.
“I miss the atmosphere of Elland Road. It's special," Harrison admitted. "I speak to [Fiorentina goalkeeper] David de Gea, and he always says that going to Elland Road was incredible.

"A lot of people admire the environment there. They're very passionate fans. When you have that energy, and everything's going well around the stadium, it really does give you a boost.”
