Sean Dyche says Nottingham Forest need to show three qualities to retain their Premier League status.

The former Reds boss, who left in February after just half a season in charge of the club, has been discussing his former employers and their chances of staying in the top flight after a tumultuous campaign.

Dyche was the third of Forest’s four managers this season, succeeding Ange Postecoglou before being replaced by Vitor Pereira having – he points out – won 22 of the club’s 32 points this term.

Pereira has won three of his nine games – but only one of his five league matches – and the Reds remain looking over their shoulders, two places and three points above the drop zone.

Speaking on talkSPORTDyche said they need to be three things to make sure they stay up: “For me it'd be strong, fit and organised, that's what I would go – and that's what I was trying to get into the group at Forest.

“Not just talent, not relying just on talent. What's the framework of the side? What's the energy? What's the output? What's the hard yards? How much of that are you putting in?

“Because after years of being in the game, if you ain't got that right you're going to find it very, very difficult to stay in the Premier League if you don't get the framework and the basics right. Strong, fit and organised.”
