Liverpool hold talks to sign Gravenberch upgrade who's "one of the best 6s in world football" - …

Liverpool’s 2025/26 campaign certainly hasn’t played out the way many expected, especially after the success endured in the Premier League last campaign.

Arne Slot’s side managed to win the title during his first year at the helm, but the Dutchman has been unable to emulate such a feat, with the Reds now sitting 21 points off the summit.

His side currently sit in fifth place in England’s top-flight, with the prospect of missing out on Champions League football now looking a distinct possibility.

Such a disappointment is only fuelled by the £450m spending spree during the summer transfer window, which saw the hierarchy break the club’s transfer record on two occasions.

However, the board once again look set to spend big this summer, with numerous high-profile names appearing on their shortlist over the last couple of weeks.

Liverpool enter talks to land £70m sensation

After Mohamed Salah announced he would be departing Liverpool this summer, work has been conducted behind the scenes to land an adequate replacement this summer.

RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande is one name that continues to be linked with a move to Anfield, with the Ivorian international lighting up the Bundesliga this campaign.

It’s been reported in recent days that the Reds are set to submit a £60m bid during the off-season, with Barcelona and Arsenal also extremely keen on his signature.

However, Diomande isn’t the only player being lined up with a summer move to Merseyside, with Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga another player on their shortlist.

According to Sky Germany, Slot’s men have already made contact with the French international’s agents over the possibility of a potential summer transfer to Anfield.

The report also states that the Spanish side would be open to allowing the 23-year-old to depart if any acceptable offer was made for his services during the off-season.

It also confirms that the LaLiga outifit are demanding a fee in the region of €80m (£70m) for the youngster who’s only made 13 starts so far this term.

Why Camavinga would be better than Gravenberch for Liverpool

Throughout the 2025/26 campaign, Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has once again been a regular starter under manager Slot in the Premier League.

Gravenberch

The Dutchman has started all but two games so far this term, arguably being one of the club’s shining lights despite the huge decline from the achievements of 2024/25.

He’s often partnered Alexis Mac Allister at the heart of the side, with such a duo failing to reap the rewards as it did in the Premier League last time around.

As a result, additions could be made to further bolster the ranks during the summer, with Camavinga just one player currently under consideration.

At just 23 years of age, he’s already racked up over 200 appearances for Real Madrid, subsequently demonstrating his talent at performing at the top level.

He’s also won two LaLiga titles and two Champions League trophies - which highlights his experience of thriving and starring at the very top level of European football.

When comparing his stats to those of Gravenberch this term, the Frenchman has dominated in numerous key areas - which would make him a better player for the Reds than the Dutchman.

Camavinga, who’s been described as "world-class" by talent scout Jacek Kulig and as "one of the best 6s in world football" by Arsenal writer Harvey Diamonds, has completed 92% of his passes, whilst achieving a 71% long ball completion rate.

The aforementioned figures are both higher than those produced by Gravenberch in 2025/26, whilst also ranking him in the top 8% of all players in Spain’s top-flight.

The Frenchman has also completed 67% of the dribbles he’s attempted, along with 6.6 passes into final third per 90 - both of which are also better than those produced by the current Reds star.

Out of possession, the Real Madrid star has also dominated, subsequently winning 63% of his ground duels whilst making 3.9 tackles per 90 this season.

Eduardo Camavinga

Just like his numbers with the ball at his feet, Camavinga has ranked in the top 5% for the aforementioned tallies - which makes him a phenomenal box-to-box option.

Other numbers, such as 5.3 ball recoveries made and 1.4 fouls won per 90, are both higher than Gravenberch, further reaffirming his dominance over the Dutchman.

£70m would be yet another statement of intent from the hierarchy, but it’s a deal that would allow the side to secure the services of yet another top-level European talent.

It would be a harsh call to drop Gravenberch given his recent achievements at Anfield, but ultimately, a move for Camavinga would allow the Reds to reach the next level in 2026/27.
