But he says he was never concerned about where their season was heading.
The Seagulls turned fortunes around with four wins in five games and can attack the European spots when action resumes from Saturday.
Their season was put on hold when they were in good form but head coach Fabian Hurzeler has looked to use the period wisely.
Ex-striker Murray said: “I think it will be a nice break for them, but it will also give them the opportunity to get on the training field.
“I don't know what Fabian's plans are towards the end of the season.
“You might throw a curveball, change it up a little bit. He has got that amount of time with the players.
“It's about that momentum and, if you ask them, they would probably say they would have Iiked to carry on.
“But, when you look at the profile of the squad, we've got a lot of lads that we're relying on through experience and age, and they probably will benefit from a little break before this final push at the end of the season.”
Murray was confident Albion would turn results around when he spoke to The Argus a few days ahead of the 2-0 win at Brentford which launched the recent good run.
Looking back now, he said: “You've just got to kind of trust the process to a certain extent and the quality of players we have got, the quality of manager we have got.
“For me, as we spoke then, I was really comfortable in the situation. I knew it would turn around.
“I had watched recent games and you could see that level of performances there.
“Sometimes it's a little bit of fortune. We never travel well to places like Fulham. I think we conceded last minute.
“We conceded very late on against Everton for a draw.
“It was just a lot of things going against us, but the level of the performance when you looked past the result was there.
“And now, everyone that was moaning have been firmly put in their place, so to speak.”
