The key West Ham stat that could bode well for Wolves

Wolves head to West Ham on Friday looking to prolong their stay in the Premier League - and drag Nuno’s side further into trouble.

The noises are coming out of Molineux are that Wolves will continue to fight until the end - which is to be expected.

But survival looks highly unlikely heading into the final seven games of the season.

Wolves would need to win the majority of their games between now and the end of May - and have results go their way to give them any chance of staying up.

But they can still put the squeeze on the sides above them - and keep their Premier League status going for a few more weeks.

And there is a statistic that has emerged ahead of Friday’s trip to London that could bode well for Rob Edwards’ side.

The Hammers are currently a point from safety - occupying the final spot in the bottom three just behind Tottenham.

And heading into Friday - their record against sides sitting rock bottom of the table does not make for ideal reading.

Wolves have occupied that spot for all the season - after their opening day defeat to Manchester City.

And it has emerged that since the start of the 23/24 season - West Ham have only won two games against sides that have been sitting rock bottom.

The latest loss was earlier this year - as Wolves swept aside Nuno’s men with a 3-0 victory at the London Stadium.

In recent seasons they had also dropped points against bottom of the league sides who went on to be relegated - including Southampton and Sheffield United.

In November 2023 - they were also beaten by Everton, who had endured a disastrous start to the season.

Elsewhere, it has been claimed that West Ham could be without up to nine first team regulars for the game.

A number of players are carrying knocks and Axel Disasi picked up a slight issue in the FA Cup defeat against Leeds.
