Man United are expecting to see a lot of movement in the midfield in the summer transfer window.
Man United’s midfield is a big talking point ahead of the summer transfer window, as the Red Devils are looking to transform Michael Carrick’s options in the middle of park, especially as the club looks set for Champions League football.
The Red Devils have been linked to several top midfielders ahead of the summer, and assuming they can sell Ugarte as well as seeing Casemiro leave, they’ll need to get their replacement decisions correct.
Romano says Newcastle and Spurs are keen on Ugarte
There has been a lot of interest in Ugarte according to reports, despite the fact that he has really struggled since moving to Man United in 2024. The Red Devils paid £52m to sign him from PSG, and he has now been cast aside by Carrick in favour of Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle and Spurs are both interested in signing the Uruguayan in the summer. He said on his YouTube channel: “From my information, Manuel Ugarte could also leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
“Some movements have already started to find a solution for Manuel Ugarte. So you can imagine, with Ugarte leaving, with Casemiro leaving, and Man United playing Champions League football, it means they need two more midfielders.
“There is movement around Europe [for Ugarte], several possibilities for Ugarte to depart Manchester United in the summer transfer window, including Galatasaray, Newcastle and Tottenham.”
Aston Villa are also understood to be interested in Ugarte, according to recent transfer reports, so it seems that United won’t struggle to sell the 24-year-old.
Man United could swap Ugarte for Tonali
Tonali is reportedly unsettled at Newcastle, and so the Red Devils are closely monitoring his situation, and would like to make a move for him. However, it is understood that Newcastle could demand around £100m.
If so, the Red Devils could offer Ugarte in part exchange to not only make the Tonali deal cheaper, but get decent value in return for Ugarte.
