Daniel Munoz messages Michael Olise after former Crystal Palace star downs Real Madrid

Michael Olise left Crystal Palace fans beaming with pride after tearing Real Madrid apart in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The France international terrorised Alvaro Carreras and helped Bayern Munich record a 2-1 win over the Spanish giants inside the Santiago Bernabeu, in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

After seeing Michael Olise star on the biggest stage, his old Crystal Palace teammate Daniel Munoz got in touch on Instagram.

Daniel Munoz calls Michael Olise “class” after UEFA Champions League heroics

Olise – who Liverpool want – provided an assist for Harry Kane in Madrid, meaning he can now boast an extraordinary haul of 16 goals and 29 assists in just 41 appearances so far this season.

Munoz was quick to respond after the Bayern Munich No.17 posted about the win on Instagram, writing “class” in the comments section, also adding an emoji depicting fire.

The Colombia international only managed to play eight games with Olise for Crystal Palace before that £50m move to Germany materialised – combining to score two goals – but it is nice to see that the pair still keep in touch on social media.

Others connected to Crystal Palace responded to the Instagram post as well, with Joel Ward and David Ozoh – who is shining on loan at Derby – liking the upload, along with Adam Wharton.

While many Crystal Palace fans would absolutely love to have Olise back in red and blue, it bodes well for future recruitment that the 24-year-old is doing so well.

Potential signings will see just how well the Eagles did in terms of developing the Frenchman and polishing him into the global star he is today, which could make them more likely to choose Crystal Palace over another club.

The same goes for Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze, who are now key players for Manchester City and Arsenal respectively.

Dougie Freedman may no longer be working at Selhurst Park, but his recruitment while in SE25 was nothing short of remarkable – many of his signings are now superstars across Europe.
