Nottingham Forest sources deny rumours Man City are on verge of signing Elliot Anderson

According to TEAMtalk, Nottingham Forest have denied speculation that Anderson is close to joining Man City for £65m.

Forest chiefs want to encourage a bidding war, so they aren’t expected to agree a fee for his sale prior to the window opening.

The World Cup could increase Anderson’s value substantially, so one would assume they would wait until after the tournament to sanction his sale.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey told the site: “They don’t want anyone to think that Manchester City have this tied down – they want a bidding war and that is completely understandable. They want top-of-the-market price, they want to be able to get a deal into three figures.”

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported on X that Forest want in excess of £100m for the England international.

“Forest expect Elliot #Anderson to join either Manchester United or Manchester City if he leaves this summer.

“So far, no club has made direct contact with Forest. A fee in the region of £100-120m is being demanded.”
