Jordan Pickford is truly Everton's saviour as new statistic exposes Toffees star's brilliance…

If Everton get European football, then Jordan Pickford would have played an enormous part for the Toffees.

Fans are allowing themselves to dream now, as the club sit just three points outside the Champions League places.

David Moyes has done a truly sterling job since coming back for a second stint, and it would be amazing if his efforts actually did lead to Everton playing in a European competition next season.

Should Jordan Pickford now be considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers? 🤔

Gary Lineker is adamant he should 👀

Moyes’ success boils down to making the team tighter defensively, but he also improved the work-rate and pressing.

And behind his outfielders lies a truly remarkable goalkeeper, who has long been impressing before he even arrived.

Indeed, Jordan Pickford has been Everton’s saviour in recent years – and a brilliant new statistic emphasises this.

New Jordan Pickford statistic is unbelievably good

Everton have stared down the barrel of relegation a number of times in recent years, making the current campaign a very nice change of pace.

The Toffees flirted with the drop in 2022/23, and only confirmed their survival on the final day against Bournemouth.

Pickford was superb that season – and his level has rarely dropped since.

As per BBC Sport, the England number one has actually prevented 24.1 goals for Everton in the Premier League, which is nine more than any other goalkeeper (calculated by xGoT – goals conceded).

It just shows how important Pickford has been for Everton.

And of course this term he’s been on top form, preventing 6.1 goals so far – more than anyone else.

Arguably right now, he is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. And Gary Lineker recently suggested Pickford should be considered amongst the world’s best, and that is difficult to argue with.

His efforts previously have kept Everton in the Premier League. And what he is doing at the moment could well help to earn the Toffees a place in a European competition.

And how fitting that would be, because if there’s one player in that Everton squad who truly deserves to play European football it’s Pickford. His quality belongs on the European stage.

But at the very least, Pickford is undoubtedly an Everton cult hero at this point. And given he’s still only 32, there is still so much time for him to become a bona fide club legend.
