Scott Parker makes big claim about Burnley mood despite relegation strife

Scott Parker insists the atmosphere within the Burnley camp has always remained positive despite their Premier League struggles.

The Clarets are currently in the midst of a miserable run of form which has seen them win just one of their last 22 league games.

Returning to action against Brighton this weekend, Parker’s side find themselves 10 points adrift of safety with only seven games remaining.

Yet despite the criticism and outside noise, Parker believes he’s managed to keep his players on side.

“I think that's probably the biggest challenge now,” he said, when asked about the need to keep up spirits.

“But morale or the general feeling, of course, at certain moments can be tough because of the dynamics of what we face.

"But like I said, that's never really been the case here. If you come into this training facility, you'll see one which is very bright and constantly trying to improve and get results.

"But over the course of a long season, there's something you need to be aware of as a coach, whether that's a little bit more rest at certain moments to freshen the minds up. But for large parts of teams now, it's about the mental side of things and how fresh you're going into games because it has been a long season to date.”
