Engraved bricks at Vitality Stadium to be removed as part of stadium works

The inscribed bricks will be removed by the club in the coming weeks.

Where the club is able to remove the brick intact, they will be returned to supporters.

The names on each brick will be recorded and “permanently transferred” onto a “new stadium installation” as part of the ground’s redevelopment.

Currently, work is underway on the enabling works for the Dean Court expansion, with plans lodged with the council for the full works.

In a statement on their website, AFC Bournemouth said: “As part of the club’s ongoing redevelopment, a number of areas within the current footprint will be removed over the coming months, including those that feature supporter engraved bricks and pavers.

“We recognise that these represent a lasting connection between supporters and the club, and we’re committed to treating them with the care and respect they deserve.

“Throughout the coming weeks, the club will carefully begin the removal process and attempt to recover as many engraved bricks/pavers as possible. The Club will make every effort to recover and return engraved bricks/pavers to supporters in recognition of their personal significance.

“Where a brick/paver is successfully retrieved, supporters will be contacted directly and arrangements made for its return.

“Every name and inscription will be recorded and permanently transferred into a new stadium installation, ensuring all supporters are recognised regardless of whether their original brick can be recovered.

“The club will provide supporters with the opportunity to review and confirm their inscription details before the new installation is finalised.

“Its presence will form part of the redeveloped stadium and will ensure that all supporters who contributed remain a visible and valued part of the club’s history as we move into our new chapter together.”

On what the new installation will look like, the club said: “[It] will take the form of a high-quality, permanent plaque or display within the stadium, recognising all supporters who contributed. Further details and visuals will be shared in due course.”

It will be located “within a prominent and appropriate area” of the ground, the club added.

Fans will be contacted directly by the club where they have valid contact details, otherwise supporters are encouraged to email the club themselves on ops@afcb.co.uk or slo@afcb.co.uk.

More details can be found on the club website.
