Florian Wirtz believes he has emerged from the most difficult spell of his early months in England, declaring that he is “continuing to grow” after what he describes as a challenging adaptation period following his summer move to LIVERPOOL in the Premier League.
The midfielder, signed in a blockbuster deal that made him one of the most expensive arrivals in the club’s history, opened up to reporters this week about the weight of expectation he felt after leaving Germany. He told TNT Sports: “I know that they paid a lot for me. I still think that I’m improving, it was a difficult start for me because I wanted to impact the team immediately.
“I have to accept it, I’m feeling very good now on a physical level. I’m feeling good in England now because this was a big change for me, now I’m trying to make the team better.”
Sources around the dressing room say the midfielder has made noticeable strides in training, with coaches encouraged by his improved understanding of Liverpool’s positional structure and pressing system. His recent performances have shown flashes of the creativity and tight close control that made him such a coveted signing.
Why Liverpool supporters have been frustrated
