Report: What Everton think will happen to Jack Grealish if he makes a 'full recovery'

Everton fans are still waiting to see whether Jack Grealish will stay on Merseyside for the 2026/27 campaign.

The England international saw his season on loan at the Hill Dickinson Stadium end prematurely in January after a foot fracture disturbed his progress, but he still looks to be in good spirits and remains involved at Everton through projects in the community.

As Jack Grealish continues his recovery, a story from The Athletic now shares what Everton thought about the Manchester City loanee just before his injury, and how he is viewed now.

What should Everton be willing to pay to bring back Grealish over the summer? 💰

Everton believe Jack Grealish could actually improve if his recovery goes well

The Athletic say “the belief internally at Everton” was that Grealish had more to offer David Moyes before the foot fracture occurred, and the Toffees feel “the best may still be to come” if the 30-year-old can make a full recovery.

Considering the Brummie was already performing to a high standard before breaking his foot, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 20 Premier League appearances, that viewpoint from Everton insiders should excite fans if a deal can be struck for him to return next season.

The Athletic have previously claimed that Everton would ‘prefer’ another loan deal for Grealish, presumably as a way to check whether the injury has taken a toll on his abilities before committing millions to a permanent move.

Should another loan materialise, it would likely come with a fixed option to buy or some form of compensation for Manchester City, as the attacking midfielder becomes a free agent at the end of next season when his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in July 2027.

Hopefully, Grealish can recover smoothly and pick up from where he left off in an Everton shirt, ideally with the addition of European football at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next term.
