Newcastle United are embracing themselves for a summer of change, regardless of how a gruelling season ends in the final seven games of the campaign.
After exiting the FA Cup and the Champions League, Newcastle find themselves in 12th place in the Premier League table and are facing an uphill battle to end the season strongly and qualify for European football next term.
It feels like this summer will be a reboot for a squad that has achieved so much in the last four-and-a-half years. That will inevitably mean the club's transfer business will ramp up, both in terms of incomings and outgoings, and with that in mind we have rounded up the latest transfer rumours surrounding Newcastle on Wednesday, April 8.

Newcastle well placed for Kobel deal
Newcastle United are more likely to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel than Chelsea are this summer.
That is according to Football Insider, who claim that despite both clubs looking to freshen up their goalkeeping options this summer, Chelsea are prepared to give Mike Penders, who has impressed on loan at Strasbourg, an opportunity to impress next term.
That gives Newcastle a clearer run at signing Kobel, with the Swiss international goalkeeper having long been on the club's radar having impressed against them in the Champions League back in 2023.
It may take a decent fee to prise the 28-year-old away from Signal Iduna Park, with the former Stuttgart goalkeeper still having two years remaining on his current deal.

Trippier's next move
Kieran Trippier announced over the weekend that he will leave Newcastle at the end of the season at the end of his current contract at St James' Park.
After four-and-a-half successful years at St James' Park, the 35-year-old will be free to join a new club in July and there is believed to be interest from a number of Premier League clubs in his services. Coventry have also been linked with the veteran, as they look set to return to the top flight.
However, a report from Football Insider claims Trippier is keen to look at options abroad with clubs in the MLS and the Saudi Pro League keen to sign him.
Trippier, of course, spent two-and-a-half years playing in Spain with Atletico Madrid, famously winning La Liga in the 2020/21 season.

Newcastle linked with 'next Lautaro Martinez'
A report from Argentina claims Newcastle are among the clubs running the rule over teenage forward Lautaro Piola. The 17-year-old has been impressing at youth and reserve level for Velez Sarsfield and is said to be available for only £5million this summer.
His playing style has earned comparisons to Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez but any move would be viewed as developmental, with time in the club's youth set-up or back out on loan being the plan rather than being thrown straight into the first team.
