Leeds plotting move for hugely in-demand striker with twice as many goals as Calvert-Lewin

Leeds United have entered the race for Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik, who could be allowed to leave the Welsh club, despite putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

Indeed, the Whites remain keen on improving their attacking options, despite strengthening heavily at centre-forward last summer, bringing in Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and the latter has gone on to play a major role in the bid to avoid the drop.

The 29-year-old has ten goals to his name in the Premier League, which earned him a call-up to Thomas Tuchel's most recent England squad, and Daniel Farke has been very pleased by what he's seen from the former Everton man too.

Farke said: "It's his job, he should score the goals, but I would also always back him to be there. I was not surprised by this run because for me he is one of the best strikers in this league and he shows this quality more or less in each and every game."

Although the Englishman has been impressive in front of goal, Farke's side aren't out of the woods in the relegation battle, sitting just four points above the relegation zone, with seven games left to play.

Leeds plotting move for Vipotnik

As such, Leeds could perhaps do with bringing in even more attacking firepower this summer, and they are plotting a move for Swansea star Vipotnik, who has 22 goals to his name in all competitions, double the amount of Calvert-Lewin, who has found the net on 11 occasions.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which reveals a plethora of clubs could be set to battle it out for the 24-year-old's signature, with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Everton, Brentford and West Ham United also conducting checks.

Swansea could sell Vipotnik despite agreeing long-term contract

The Slovenian has put pen to paper on a new contract, which, in theory, extends his stay in Wales until 2030, but the report makes it clear Swansea could choose to cash-in regardless, with the new deal not indicative of a long-term stay.

Manager Vitor Matos could find it difficult to replace the Championship top scorer, who he singled out for high praise after a fantastic free-kick goal against Sheffield Wednesday in February, saying: "Like I said after the game, he's special, he finds ways to score, that's another way, and he did that really well.

"Really pleased for him, for us, it was a really nice one to see it as well from the bench, so that's something to add and I hope he can keep going."
