Fiorentina will be without striker Moise Kean when they take on Crystal Palace in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening.
Corriere dello Sport report that Kean is now confirmed to miss the clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
According to the newspaper, the 26-year-old ‘tried to grit his teeth’ for the game. But after a final training session today, Fiorentina have elected to leave him at home for treatment.
Bad news for Fiorentina
Fiorentina had initially been hopeful that Moise Kean would be able to return from a ‘nagging’ tibia problem that he has been carrying.
The Italian gritted his teeth and participated in a final training session on Wednesday. This was not with the main group. There was confidence he could return to the squad, though.
The situation had changed by the end of the training session. Fiorentina’s backroom staff made the decision not to include him with the rest of the squad and to allow him to continue his recovery in Florence.
A cautious move
The Serie A side have made the decision to not risk the striker for the clash with Crystal Palace this week.
They’re taking the ‘cautious’ route, both in view of the return match against England and the end of the season in Serie A.
Fiorentina have pushed away from relegation trouble and are now 15th in the table, five points from the bottom three. They want to ensure that they can continue to push away from trouble with Kean’s help.
Thus, the striker has been left out of the clash with Crystal Palace tomorrow. How that will change Crystal Palace’s plans, remains to be seen.
Kean’s absence is undoubtedly a boost for Oliver Glasner and his team, though. They no longer have to worry about facing Fiorentina’s top goalscorer in the Conference League tomorrow evening.
