'Unbelievable': Jamie O'Hara insists Everton player is now top five in the world in his position

For Jamie O’Hara, one Everton player is now amongst the very best in the world in his position.

Everton undoubtedly have some seriously talented players in their team.

Iliman Ndiaye is perhaps the player who most people outside the Toffees sphere instantly think of when it comes to Everton.

And then there’s James Garner, who is having the season of his life right now, with his efforts potentially carrying him to the World Cup this summer.

There are also some players with extremely high potential who could eventually become world renowned superstars, like Jarrad Branthwaite.

None of these are yet in the top five in their positions in the game.

But for Jamie O’Hara, there is one player at Everton who can lay claim to this – and that man is Jordan Pickford.

Earlier today, pundit Jamie O’Hara was on Sky Sports talking about goalkeepers, after two of the world’s best went head to head in the Champions League last night.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich faced off at the Bernabeu, with both Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer shining.

That prompted Sky to pick O’Hara’s brains regarding the top five goalkeepers in the world.

And in a move that will delight Evertonians, he threw Pickford in at number five. His list was as follows:

1. Thibaut Courtois

2. Gianluigi Donnarumma

3. Manuel Neuer

4. Alisson

5. Jordan Pickford

He said of him: “For me Jordan Pickford is an unbelievable goalie.”

Gary Lineker called for Pickford to be seen as one of the world’s best a few weeks ago, having been so amazingly consistent for Everton over the last few years.

And it seems the feeling towards England’s number one is starting to change a little.

Certainly this calendar year, Pickford has increased his own exposure by pulling off several extraordinary saves that have been clipped up and then gone viral.

The one from Sandro Tonali against Newcastle was otherworldly, and seems a shoo-in to win Save of the Season.

Should Jordan Pickford now be considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers? 🤔

Gary Lineker is adamant he should 👀

Given how Pickford has played a crucial role in helping to keep Everton in the Premier League, and is now helping the club’s European push, O’Hara’s placement of him in the top five is perfectly understandable.

And it also probably overdue.

Pickford’s consistency has been remarkable, and the acknowledgement has perhaps only come this late because there are fewer eyes on Everton compared to some of his rivals.
