Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni doesn’t think he deserved yellow card in Bayern Munich loss

Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni was whistled for a yellow card in the first half of his team’s 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Monday.

The booking triggered a one-game suspension due to yellow card accumulation, which see Tchouaméni sit out the second leg of the tie at the Allianz Arena.

Afterward, Tchouaméni said he confused by the call.

“My yellow card? I don’t know, I was only running, I didn’t even make any tackle,” Tchouaméni said (as captured by football journalist Fabrizio Romano). “But the ref decided that, I think because there were a lot of fouls before, so I think he wanted to give a yellow, but I don’t really understand it.”

Real Madrid will now have to adjust to not having Tchouaméni in its starting XI. Do not shed a tear for Los Blancos, though. Real Madrid boss Álvaro Arbeloa will likely use Jude Bellingham to fill the void. Bellingham did not start on Tuesday as he is still working his way back to full fitness after an injury.
