Yoane Wissa has scored just one Premier League goal from 13 games in Newcastle United colours.
Yoane Wissa has plummeted in valuation by £11million just eight months after his Newcastle United arrival.
To make matters worse, football analytical website transfermarkt.com calculated that the Magpies gave Brentford £18million more than his price tag at the time. Toon chiefs were wedged between a rock and a hard place last summer.
With star striker Alexander Isak angling for a St James’ Park exit, Newcastle frantically searched for a new No.9. High-profile targets like Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko snubbed moves to the Magpies.
Ultimately, Wissa - who netted 19 goals for Brentford last season - arrived on deadline day. Newcastle had a £25million bid rejected midway through the window - paying more than double that figure in an hour of desperation to get the deal over the line.

Yoane Wissa woes at Newcastle United
Wissa suffered a serious knee injury on international duty before he even trained in Newcastle colours. This ruled the No.9 out for almost three months - dealing a huge blow to Eddie Howe.
Since returning, Wissa has bagged just one Premier League goal, with Howe preferring to deploy Anthony Gordon up front. A telling moment came when the Congolese international remained as an unused substitute in both Champions League legs against Barcelona.
Eddie Howe challenges Yoane Wissa
Speaking to reporters last month, Howe insisted Wissa is as fit as he has been at Newcastle and challenged him to break into his side. The Toon boss said: "Yoane is fit, fitter probably than at any stage in his time with us. He's done a lot of work behind the scenes. He's making up for lost time in that respect and training with the group whenever we train.
"No injury concerns at all. The challenge for Yoane is when he’s introduced on the pitch, he's got to perform. And that'll be the same for every player. in the squad, and then I have to pick who I think is best for the job."
Yoane Wissa valuation plummets
According to transfermarkt, Wissa is now valued at just £26million - £29million less than the fee paid last summer. This is a fall from £37million - his estimated price tag when he signed for Newcastle.
The Gazette understands that Newcastle are already considering a new striker in the upcoming window. Nick Woltemade, too, has failed to justify his hefty price tag on Tyneside.
With Wissa turning 30 in September, he faces an uphill battle to prove the critics wrong. Perhaps a full pre-season is what the DR Congo international needs to kick-start his underwhelming Toon career.
