Premier League promotion race: Middlesbrough, Ipswich Town and Millwall's fixtures assessed

Coventry City, Middlesbrough, Ipswich Town and Millwall are all in contention for automatic promotion into the Premier League.

Middlesbrough’s push for promotion into the Premier League was hampered by two underwhelming results over the Easter weekend.

Kim Helberg’s men suffered a damaging 2-1 home defeat against promotion rivals Millwall on Friday as two goals from former Boro man Josh Coburn helped the visitors recover from falling behind to an opener from Dael Fry. That was followed up by a 2-2 draw at Swansea City on Monday as Championship top goalscorer Zan Vipotnik hit a brace to ensure goals from Alex Bangura and Tommy Conway failed to produce a maximum reward for Boro.

Results elsewhere meant Ipswich Town moved into the second automatic promotion place after the Tractor Boys claimed a Bank Holiday Monday win against Birmingham City and that has left them 12 points behind runaway leaders Coventry City, who now appear to have one foot in the Premier League. But who will join the Sky Blues in the top flight this season? We take a look at what lies ahead for Boro, Ipswich and fourth placed Millwall to see which of the sides has the most difficult run-in based on the current league position of their upcoming opposition.

Which Championship promotion contender has the most difficult run-in?
